History of the FMCA Badger Club

  • 1965

The Wisconsin chapter of FMCA was held Saturday October 9th, 1965 at Little Bluff Campground in Rio, Wisconsin with 14 member families in attendance.

It was suggested that each member present write to FMCA to request application blanks to distribute to every coach owner they meet. A question-and-answer session ensued to discuss the bylaws. A decision was made to wait until the Spring meeting May 14th, 1966 to formally elect officers and to have FMCA representation at this meeting.

A motion was made to set the dues at $5.00 a year and would be in effect for the year 1966.

Suggestion for a chapter name as follows:

    • Wisconsin Pioneer Chapter
    • Badger State FMCA
    • Badger Motor Coachers
    • Badger Chapter FMCA

The name Badger Chapter FMCA was unanimously chosen.

A newsletter will be sent to all Wisconsin members and prospective members when names and addresses become available to us.

The members enjoyed a beautiful Fall weekend around the campfire (picture enclosed) and drank coffee while forming our new chapter.

  • 1966

The Badger Chapter was organized in 1966, 4 years after FMCA’s inception. The Chapter began with 16 charter members with James Wright from Rio, WI having the distinction of being B-1 on the Badger roster. By the time 1970 arrived there were 66 family members. Since that time, we have steadily grown to a current 171 family members ending in 2012 with a roster number of B-1076.

  • 1969

In 1969 the first winter rally was held in Durand, Wisconsin February 21st through the 23rd. The first Snow Meet was dubbed “Operation Snowflake”.

  • 2016

The 50th Anniversary of the Badger Chapter of FMCA celebration was held on Sept. 22-25, 2016 in Tomah, Wisconsin

Thirty-seven motorhomes were at the rally.  The theme of the rally was the 50’s with members dressed in poodle skirts and saddle shoes.  There were torrential rains on Wednesday and Thursday which kept people inside for activities.  The Thursday night meet and greet with members bringing hors d’ourves was very tasty plus gave us a chance to meet the new 6 members who joined the chapter!  The Cranberry Festival was blessed with some sun and no rain on Friday and Saturday.
